After developing a crippling fear of blood, hotshot London surgeon Martin Ellingham (Martin Clunes) is forced to retrain as a GP and relocate to the charming seaside village of Portwenn. Dour, discourteous, and dismissive, he immediately clashes with Portwenn's quirky villagers. Doc Martin catches the eye of the most beautiful woman in Portwenn (Caroline Catz), tests the patience of his long-suffering aunt (Stephanie Cole), and repeatedly hurts feelings as he heals bodies. Uneasy Lies the Head (2009) (S04E02)

English The second episode didn't exactly fill me with enthusiasm, the plot seemed to be bland and uninspiring, surprisingly Luisa's return to the story didn't help much, and the troubles of the school director and Paulina's uncle seemed overly exaggerated. This episode is among the weakest in this series for me. Hopefully, it will be better next time. ()

Perish Together as Fools (2009) (S04E03)

English The plot of the third episode was fortunately much better than it was in the previous installment. The Doctor had enough space to behave in his pleasantly unruly manner, Luisa was no longer so colorlessly unremarkable, but most importantly, the creators skipped various psychopaths and focused on characters with much more believable problems. ()

Driving Mr McLynn (2009) (S04E04)

English I was convinced about the four stars for the fourth episode practically already by the introduction, in which the doctor presented himself in a "great" mood, which thankfully lasted until the end. Additionally, I was very pleased by the fact that despite his worsening eyesight, I do not have to despair because it is enough for me to at least see the outlines. ()

The Departed (2009) (S04E05)

English The doctor once again had enough space for the expression of their empathetic self, which is always the right way for me to be satisfied. The further course confirmed my opinion that from time to time controlled shooting of snobbish fools should be allowed, which could potentially be replaced by forced sterilization, for the protection of the gene pool of all humanity. ()

Midwife Crisis (2009) (S04E06)

English The sixth episode fell into the gray average for me. I hesitated whether to give it two or three stars, and in the end, I decided on three just because I have been enjoying the series for a long time and I don't want to be unfair to it. The plot didn't interest me too much this time, I just got annoyed by the vaccine refusal and home births more than by Doctor Martin. ()

Do Not Disturb (2009) (S04E07)

English This time, the creators of the series finally lifted my spirits a bit, as the doctor's preparations for going to London finally stirred up the surface that had been oil-still for a long time. Although it was boring as usual with Luisa, Edith had a surprise up her sleeve, so she took care of a solid entertainment with protesting Pauline. In addition, the title of the episode has a certain personal meaning for me... ()

The Wrong Goodbye (2009) (S04E08)

English I was struggling again whether to rate it with two or three stars. The episode seemed to be overloaded with events and needed to tone it down a bit, which is funny when you realize that many episodes of the fourth season needed to add more to the plot. However, the Doctor pleased me with his traditional ability to empathize with the patients' situations and his dry remarks. So, in the end, it's 3 stars. ()

Season 5 (2011) (S05)

English Season 5 was very unbalanced. Bert and Penhale weren’t doing my nerves any favors. Luckily, things were partially saved by the character of Morwenna, the creators did a great job with her. The central couple was downright annoying at times, but then greatly entertained me at the end of the final episode, so yes, I'm still planning on watching Season 6. ()

Preserve the Romance (2011) (S05E01)

English The fifth season didn't start the worst, but on the other hand, I haven't seen anything amazing either. I will rather take the first episode as a classic start of the series, and silently hope for improvement. I can't help it, but most of the situations irritated me more than entertained me. I don't know if the town will be enough for the fifth season, I'm already having claustrophobic fits from it. ()

Dry Your Tears (2011) (S05E02)

English In the previous episode, I was absolutely annoyed by all those busybodies from the neighborhood, but this time I felt completely fine and enjoyed the episode quite a lot, despite being interrupted by a storm twice. The doctor was in shape again, and despite the essentially sad beginning, I had a pleasant time. ()

Born with a Shotgun (2011) (S05E03)

English In the previous episode, I allowed myself to hope for better tomorrows, but the third part brought me back down to earth. Between the doctor and Louise, it's actually all the same, only that nameless creature has been added, my aunt was really getting on my nerves, the subplot with the neighbors was desperate, and now I'm wondering why I actually rated it three stars. Either it was inertia or sympathy. ()

Mother Knows Best (2011) (S05E04)

English There has been an improvement compared to the previous episode, but it wasn't enough for a fourth star. It's just not the same anymore, and it annoys me how the creators of the series simplify their work by randomly introducing new characters to fill the episode. I think Doc Martin should have been appropriately concluded with the last series. ()

Remember Me (2011) (S05E05)

English I don't know if it's because I've become somewhat numb, but this time I actually enjoyed it in some places. Louis' annoying mother is still in the series for now, but surprisingly, the newcomer Maggie didn't annoy me at all, quite the opposite. I even laughed at Morwenna's needle phobia, so I would rate it 3*+. ()

Don't Let Go (2011) (S05E06)

English Hmmm, so in the end the unbelievable happened and I gave the sixth episode of the fifth season four stars. I was expecting a lot, but this surprised even myself. I had several reasons: the plot with the poisoned janitor made me laugh, those two desperate people finally went their separate ways, and I managed to put together a new lawnmower while watching. ()

Cats and Sharks (2011) (S05E07)

English Hmmm, so the breakup of the weirdest couple of the season obviously benefited, or I am personally so excited about it that I dared to reach for the fourth star again. Although Bert's constant troubles usually annoy me, this time I quite enjoyed the usurers. ()

Ever After (2011) (S05E08)

English Yeah, today I had a good time watching the TV series again, although some of the characters really got on my nerves (Penhale, Bert). I could have a good laugh at the eighth episode, even though the chase for Mrs. Tishell was crazy, but also funny, and the negotiations at the end reminded me of the balcony scene from Romeo and Juliet. ()

Season 6 (2013) (S06)

English Despite occasional disappointments, I'm giving Season 6 four stars. I have to highlight the character development of Aunt Ruth who became my favorite character over the course of the season. As expected, Martin and Louise's relationship followed a kind of sine wave. Bert gradually stopped annoying me. The same can’t be said about Joe Penhale, though. He got on my nerves pretty much throughout the whole season. Last but not least, I should mention Morwenna, who made it all the way up to the second place on my list of favorites. ()

Sickness and Health (2013) (S06E01)

English The first episode of the sixth season initially scared me when I found out that it was already heading towards a second attempt, but then I started to have a great time. So many different obstacles were not even possible to be put together by the famous Mr. Murphy. Morwenna was great again, despite the lack of space, and unexpectedly, the aunt was getting to me. ()

Guess Who's Coming to Dinner (2013) (S06E02)

English After the first episode of the sixth season, which I found very entertaining, the series returned with the second episode that was more average. The plot essentially returned to the same tracks that the entire previous season moved in, so Penhale once again tried to be embarrassingly funny, the doctor and Louisa slightly annoyed me again, and Morwenna, who I really enjoy, had little space again. ()

The Tameness of a Wolf (2013) (S06E03)

English The third episode pleasantly surprised me again. It really surprised me because Bert, who otherwise annoyed me terribly, was very entertaining in it. I still have a little problem with skinny Martin, but he was perfect in the office (and outside of it). Aunt Ruth clearly outshines Aunt Joan, who was a bit stereotypical after all, which is evidently not a threat to Ruth. ()
