In the light-hearted, summer atmosphere of Paris, Paul (Thomas Dutronc), a bookish and shy student from the provinces, in Paris to enrol in Political Science, reads on a bench in the Luxembourg Gardens. One afternoon, as he shyly follows a young woman who has caught his eye for the last few days, he meets Fab (Saïd Taghmaoui), a headstrong and efficient guy who introduces him to the art of the pick-up. Entrusting his apprenticeship each evening to his diary, Paul gets caught up in dubious acts on the verge of delinquency before distancing himself from his mentor to return to his studies, betraying the person who has shared his know-how and friendship with him.
