Plots(1)

The film’s story is told in Dory Previn’s voice, through archival footage, journals, memoirs, and her confessional songs. A child tap dancer in New Jersey and teenage showgirl in NYC, Previn went on to write classic songs for greats like Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland, and Dionne Warwick. After being caught up in a Hollywood tabloid scandal in the 1960s, she crossed over from the MGM lot to the Laurel Canyon rock scene of the 1970s. Animation brings drawings from Dory's journal to life, lyrically illustrating her inner voices without straying from how Dory wrote and understood them herself. Dory Previn remains a mysterious cult figure to this day. (South by Southwest Film Festival)
