Count (Lee) and his son (Menez) battle over the love of the same beautiful mortal woman (Catherine Breillat). In 1784, in order to satisfy his insatiable thirst, the Count's men capture Hermaine Poiteven (Mary-Helene Breillat). Enchanted by her beauty, the Count decides to spare Hermaine's life by making her a mother rather than feasting on her blood. Consequently, Ferdinand is born. The Count and his son unfortunately don't meet eye to eye on the subject of vampirism. By the 20th century, much to the dismay of Dad, Ferdinand has still not taken his first sip of blood. Driven out of their Transylvanian Castle, the Count and Ferdinand wind up separated in Europe. Eventually reuniting in Paris, the two men meet Nicole, a beautiful young woman who bears a likeness to Hermaine. Father and son soon realize their mutual love for Nicole, which turns into an ugly rivalry sending them on a rampage of revenge and destruction. (official distributor synopsis)
