The Soviet Union, the thirties. The compulsory delivery of agricultural produces is in effect. Zorka stabs the aggressive delivery commissioner. Of the wagon, Paranya, the mad woman dressed in sack-robe is seen emerging. The villagers accept her: women give her food, while children and men amuse themselves with her. Released from prison, Zorka returns to be a night-watch on the plant. One day, Paranya flees to the image of Stalin set up on the main square of the village in order to escape the teasing. Someone happens to call her Stalins bride. Paranya is suspicious: she is dragged away and tortured, but finally let back. A culprit is needed, however. From this time on everyone accused by the now entirely mad woman is arrested. Zorka can no longer stand the general helplessness and stabs Paranya to death. (official distributor synopsis)
