Dancing Alone

Using old family videos and diary entries the filmmaker tells the story of her family, which was so marked by outbursts of violence that at 12 years old she decided to move into a children’s home. As a grown woman she returns with her camera to engage with her parents’ past and to get the family to deal with it. The family members open up; they actually speak about what has happened. As they work things through, the dynamic develops of its own accord. A courageous attempt to understand whether it is possible to leave your past behind you – vividly and powerfully narrated.
