Biography

Dan Hunt is a filmmaker that has created award-winning programming for national broadcast since the early 1990’s. He has produced and directed severals documentaries for TV and worked for the Public Broadcasting Service. He directed Cruel and Unusual (2006), premiered at the SXSW Film festival and award-winning in some festivals. The film examines the lives of trans-women who are incarcerated in men’s prisons. Another documentary he directed was Bear Run, that was broadcast on Logo in 2009. He also wrote and directed the TV series In the Life. He has produced other documentaries: Dangerous Living (2004), Oliver Button is a Star (PBS; 2002) and After Stonewall (PBS,1999). Hunt works for Soros Media and is professor at SUNY – New Paltz.
