Biography
Maru Solores (b. 1968, San Sebastian) studied at the Escuela de Cine y Video in Andoain, where she attended seminars by director José Luis Guerín. She later moved to Berlin and enrolled in a film direction course at the Deutsche Film- und Fernsehakademie, where she made several documentary films. She graduated with the short film Turtle Island (Insel der Schildkröte / Dortoka Uhartea, 2003), awarded at a number of festivals. After returning from Berlin she worked for Basque television as director, editor, producer and also as a teacher. Her first feature film Camera obscura was screened at the Valladolid festival in 2011.
