Biography
A graduate of the Queensland University of Technology in 2001, MICHAEL DORMAN came to prominence as the loveable Christian in the hugely successful Australian drama series “The Secret Life of Us,” for which he received the 2003 Logie Award Nomination for „Most Popular New Male Talent.‟
Since then, Michael has made a name for himself in both film and television. Some of his television credits include: the Channel ten hit “Small Claims” with Claudia Karvan and Rebecca Gibney, and the ABC telemovie “The Silence” with Richard Roxburgh, directed by award winning director Cate Shortland and produced by Jan Chapman. Michael has also featured in a number of short films including A LOVE STORY and STUFFED BUNNY.
Michael shone as Jamie in the 2004 release 50 WAYS OF SAYING FABULOUS, the second feature film from internationally acclaimed New Zealand director Stewart Main. In August of 2005, Michael was featured as one of Australia's 30 “Stars of Tomorrow” in Screen International. The following year Michael played opposite Emily Barclay in the chilling and highly anticipated Australian feature SUBURBAN MAYHEM, by first time feature writer Alice Bell, directed by Paul Goldman (AUSTRALIAN RULES, THE NIGHT WE CALLED IT A DAY) and executive produced by Jan Chapman.
In 2008, he was featured in three films. He delivered a brilliant performance opposite Emily Barclay in PRIME MOVER. In addition, he worked on TRIANGLE, directed by Christopher Smith, and STORAGE directed by Rachel Landers.
Michael also starred in NEEDLE, which was directed by John V. Soto, and starred Michael as the role of „Ben.‟
