Biography

Film director and producer. He grew up in Mazatlán, Sinaloa and studied film at the University of Loyola and the University of Southern California. His feature film debut, Ulama, el juego de la vida y la muerte (1986) obtained five Ariel Awards and was internationally acclaimed. He then shot the docudrama El misterio de los mayas (1994) in imax format. He introduced the Motion Control visual effects system in Mexico. He has supported and co-produced the work of a number of filmmakers who work in short film animation. He wrote the screenplay adaptation of the novels Asesino solitario and El amante de Janis Joplin by Elmer Mendoza.
