After studying at the CECC in Barcelona Lyngdal directed a slew of short films which won awards at e.g. Reykjavik Short Film Festival and Toronto International Film Festival - among them BURST (2003) & THE MAGICIAN (2005) that won Best short film at the Edda awards - the Icelandic Academy Awards. Lyngdal directed the short film KISSING for the European Film Academy Awards 2003. In 2006 he directed and wrote the "THE NEW YEAR SATIRE" - a 60 min comedy show that aired on Icelandic national TV on New Years Day. In 2008 Lyngdal directed the mini-series THE CLIFF - a dramatic/paranormal detective story set in rural Iceland. His first feature film the comedy OUR OWN OSLO (2011) was the second biggest grossing film of 2011 in Iceland. FROST is Lyngdal's second feature film.
