Biography

Andrzej Munk (1920-1961) was a screenwriter and director. He studied architecture, law, and finished with film school in Lodz. He worked as a cameraman, shooting documentaries and short films. He made his debut with the feature drama Men of Blue Cross (Błękitny krzyż, 1955). His next film Man on the Tracks (Człowiek na torze, 1957) is among the major works of Polish cinema. Also of significance are his films Heroism (Eroica, 1958), Bad Luck (Zezowate szczęście, 1960), and Passenger (Pasażerka, 1963).
