Biography
Born in Lisbon in 1952, Rita Azevedo Gomes studies fine arts before transitioning to filmmaking and theater. After her debut film, O Som da Terra a Tremer (1990), Rita writes and directs several shorts such as A Conquista de Faro (2005) as well as features including Frágil Como o Mundo (2002) and A Vingança de Uma Mulher (2012), selected among other, at the Edinburgh International Film Festival. Rita Azevedo Gomes currently works at the Cinemateca Portuguesa as a programmer and a curator for exhibitions.
