Biography
Jos de Putter (1959, Terneuzen, Netherlands) graduated from the Leiden University, majoring in comparative literature. At first he indulged in film reviews but in 1993 he jumped the fence and began to shoot films himself. His debut, It's Been a Lovely Day, scored big at film festivals around the world and broke Dutch box office records for documentaries. In 2005, the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., organised a retrospective exhibition of his documentaries. De Putter's oeuvre has also been presented by the Museum of Modern Art in New York and a number of prestigious film festivals.
